Born in 1992 in New York, Alissa co-launched a floral brand while at Waseda University, grew it to become the top-ranked store on Rakuten. After working with a sake startup, Fujimaki Department Store, and an Israeli trading company, she founded Aqua Theon Inc. (formerly Cashi Cake Inc.) in Los Angeles in September 2019, a seaweed technology company built on the theme of "bringing Japan's rural areas to the world."
Aqua Theon Inc. develops innovative and sustainable products across multiple sectors, including food, alternative plastic containers, medical capsules, and proprietary seaweed processing technologies.

Its flagship product OoMee is the first beverage in the U.S. made from red algae, an ingredient rooted in traditional Japanese wellness practices. Since its launch in May 2025, OoMee is now available in about 700 stores nationwide. The company also operates Misaky.Tokyo, a seaweed-based Japanese confectionery brand that has grown to over 1.4 million followers on TikTok, with more than 550 million cumulative video views. Alissa was named the youngest ever on Forbes JAPAN’s "100 Women Shining on Earth" and has also been recognized in the magazine’s "Culture-preneurs 30" and "Small Giants Innovators."
