She has appeared in major theatrical productions in both the United States and Japan, including Broadway productions of The King and I (starring Ken Watanabe), Miss Saigon, and My Fair Lady. In My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center, she was selected as the only Asian female cast member and served as Dance Captain, a leadership role responsible for maintaining the artistic integrity of the production.

Minami is also the English dub voice of Gin in the Emmy- and Golden Globe–winning drama Shōgun. In 2023, she was invited to perform for the Emperor and Empress of Japan at the opening ceremony of the 38th National Cultural Festival and the 23rd National Art and Cultural Festival for People with Disabilities, held in her home prefecture of Ishikawa.

She is the author of 『今日から始めるSHOW UPの習慣』 (The Power of Showing Up). Through YU-project, Minami applies a performing-arts–inspired approach—integrating mind, body, heart, and voice—to help individuals and leaders draw out their strengths, communicate their true value with confidence, and create meaningful impact across business, creative, and public sectors.
